PK/Elementary Program

Welcome to our PK/Elementary Program

PK (PK3 and PK4)
Northland’s youngest students receive an education that is nurturing and aimed at growth. In our PK3 program, the curriculum is designed to encourage our little ones to investigate, explore, and discover everyday life experiences as they begin their academic journey. Our PK4 program prepares students to transition to their first year of formal learning, through specially tailored learning experiences designed to meet the needs of each student socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and physically. Preschool students also get to strengthen their bodies through a formal physical education program daily, led by highly qualified coaches, in addition to library and field experiences.

Outcomes include the development of dispositions important to lifelong learning—initiative, curiosity, trust, confidence, independence, responsibility, and divergent thinking. As children progress through the program, the emphasis is on Kindergarten-readiness skills in preparation for the elementary program.

Elementary (Kindergarten/LEAP through 5th Grade)
Our Kindergarten/LEAP program is academically rigorous while remaining developmentally appropriate, as students focus on reading with phonics, guided reading, and reading fluency instruction. They begin developing a firm foundation through math, social studies, science, and Bible classes, while their creativity is stretched through music and art classes. This program equips students for success in Northland’s elementary program, through a nurturing environment that emphasizes differentiated instruction and individualized attention.Northland’s first through fifth-grade courses aim to create a warm and supportive atmosphere, balancing academics with fun. From new challenges in the classroom to time spent having fun and building relationships on the state-of-the-art playground, Elementary School is all about growth. Our Elementary program continues teaching students about math, reading, social studies, and science and introduces students to formal English classes, writing, vocal music and orchestra. Elementary students also begin Summit Ministries’ Building on the Rock Bible curriculum—a unique approach that gives students a framework for seeing themselves and the world. It helps students understand four key relationships: their relationship with God, with each other, with themselves, and with the created world around them.

The foundation of our Elementary School program is our faculty. We choose the best teachers who are deeply committed to developing our students both academically and as young people who can think for themselves. Small class sizes and nurturing teachers are the cornerstones of Northland Elementary. With the recognition that each student learns differently, smaller class sizes allow teachers to engage one-on-one with students. Teachers recognize the needs of the students and are able to present Biblical principles woven into the academic fabric of the school. Blessed with teachers who truly care and are seeking innovative teaching styles, learning becomes fun and interactive.

We understand the importance of early growth, so our young students are encouraged to “stretch their wings” as they learn about God, themselves, and how to relate to others. Every moment at Northland, whether in the classroom or on the playground, is an opportunity for learning.
