NCS Orchestra Spotlight

NCS Orchestra 2023 Goodwill Tour

Our very own Northland Christian School Orchestra, under the incredible direction of Kelly Hearn, took the city by storm yesterday for their annual goodwill tour! Despite the weather, they spread smiles and holiday cheer wherever they went. They had the opportunity to bless many with their gifts at various stops, including a local retirement home. The highlight was the set at Houston Methodist Hospital – Willowbrook, where their joyous music filled the space and echoed down the hallways.

God has truly blessed us with these talented musicians, and especially so with truly exceptional leadership of Mrs. Hearn. The cherry on top of this amazing opportunity was the overwhelming response we received from those in the community who took the time to call and email our administrators to share the impact their experience had on them. Here are just a few we’d like to share with you:

From Ms. Dolores Gay at Wood Glen Court:

“On behalf of all our residents and staff, thank you for starting this Christmas Season with such beautiful music, all I have heard all day long is how amazing the children and you were, you sounded like a professional orchestra, the kids are so nice, the parents so hard working.

Like I told you, we were in God’s hands with the weather and as always He who controls everything made it possible.  Thank you again for bringing joy to our residents, look forward to Spring Concerts or 2024, you are always welcome here.

Your passion for music is transferred to those students who we pray and hope will become amazing musicians.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Merry Christmas and blessings to all Northland Christian School!”

From Mr. Tamir Buford who was at Willowbrook Methodist:

“Hello Ms. Hearn,
My name is Tamir Buford. I met you today at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. I just wanted to complement you and your kids on such a great performance. Their performance was mesmerizing and truly an enjoyable experience. It was truly the uplift that was needed for the day. With the day being so gloomy because of the rain, the group truly made our day and improved everyone’s morale. Their performance was the talk of the hospital. Several individuals I spoke with during the day also mentioned how much they enjoyed the performance. Please tell the kids thank you for sharing their talents with us and BRAVO!!! I pray they all continue nurture their gifts.”

From Ms. Betsy Lancour of Willowbrook Hospital:

“Good afternoon,

I wanted to first thank you for allowing your orchestra to perform at our hospital today.  I am an employee at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital that got to witness this wonderful orchestra that you have at your school.  Several of us were watching in absolute AWE at their performance.  They truly truly blew us away.  One of the nurses actually had tears in her eyes just stunned by how wonderful they sounded.  I saw several of our doctors who were also amazed.

What a extremely gifted group of young professionals you have at your school and we were truly blessed to be able to watch them perform.  Congratulations to their leader for doing an incredible job.

WOW just WOW!

On a final note, we are blessed with several schools who come and perform but I have to tell you, nothing compared to what we saw today.  Truly amazing!”
