Middle School Visual Arts

Middle school is a time to explore and experiment, so visual arts classes last only one semester. No previous experience is required. All classes visit the art museum and take part in Rodeo Art and Junior VASE contests. All students have their work displayed at an end-of- the semester art show.

Art 6

1 semester
Art 6 introduces 6th grade students to the Elements of art - line, shape, color, value, form, texture and space. Students will create two and three-dimensional works of art using a variety of media. Students will create two and three-dimensional works of art using a variety of media. They will be exposed to artists and art history, and will critique their own work and the work of others.

Middle School Art Exploration

1 semester
In this one semester course, 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity for creative expression in two and three-dimensions. Art history from Prehistoric to Medieval times structures the studio projects during odd years, and art history from the Middle Ages to the present organizes the curriculum in even years. So students can take MS Art for two years and still receive different information. A visit to the art museum allows students to see examples of work that they have been studying.
