MS Athletics COVID-19 Update (March 21, 2020)

Middle School Cougars,

The coaching staff has had several virtual meetings and conference calls this week, and the prevailing thought is that we miss working with you in the sports that we love. We are in prayer for all of our families to stay safe and healthy during this uncertain time.

Regarding athletics, if we were to all return to campus after Easter, most of our middle school sports will have already missed their scheduled district contests, meets, and tournaments. Therefore, Houston Area Private Schools, or HAPS, has made the decision to cancel middle school contests for the remainder of the year.

While this decision could not have been an easy one for the HAPS group, it is clear they are doing their part to practice social distancing in the interest of public health.

Northland Christian will not be open for any mandatory or optional workouts, practices, or training until we are cleared to return to campus for school.

While we are saddened by this news, we will offer an online physical education through Coach Allen and his team. Students will receive instructions and materials on Sunday nights for the activities and workouts they are to complete in the coming week. In the next 24 hours, please be checking your email for a Google Classroom invite from Coach Allen. Since this is a large class that includes almost all middle school students, you will be placed onto teams with a coach to whom you will report your progress. More information will come from Coach Allen through Google Classroom soon!

Thanks, and Go Cougars!
