HS Athletics COVID-19 Update (March 21, 2020)

High School Cougars,

The coaching staff greatly misses training and competing with you. We hope your families are safe, healthy, and continuing to practice social distance.

Northland Christian Athletics will not hold mandatory or optional workouts, training, or practices of any kind on campus until further notice. We take our responsibility seriously to maintain social distance, “flatten the curve”, and protect those with an immune system that leaves them susceptible to severe cases of COVID-19.

Your coaching staff will continue to send workouts for you to safely complete in and around your home. TAPPS is still hopeful that they can offer Spring Championships in reduced seasons that will resume after Easter Break. While following the lead of the NCAA and cancelling Spring Athletics is an option, it is viewed as the last option. Once they decide on a course of action, we will inform you of how we plan to train and compete for State Titles in the Spring.

Regarding Coach Allen’s Strength and Conditioning Classes and our Athletic Periods, we still need to complete a meaningful course of study in Physical Education, as these are academic courses in which students need to earn academic credit. Students will receive instructions and materials on Sunday nights for the activities and workouts they are to complete in the coming week. In the next 24 hours, please be checking your email for a Google Classroom invite from Coach Allen.

We hope completing this course of study will provide Northland Christian students with the opportunity to maintain their physical fitness during an uncertain time.

We will be in touch as we know more about the state of Spring Athletics from TAPPS, and your coaches will be in touch with opportunities to train in the safety of your home.

Thanks, and Go Cougars!

James Van Hook
Athletic Director
