Class of 2022 announces Project Cafeteria Renovation

Ninth Grade Families,

Please read the note below regarding an awesome way for our new high schoolers to serve together. I am excited about what this class can do together.

Dear 9th Grade Students and Parents,

We are very excited to announce the first Class of 2022 project! The 9th grade class has an opportunity to come together to serve their school in a very special way. We are going to clean and help renovate the Northland cafeteria. Our hope is that the 9th grade class will assume ownership and pride in our cafeteria and help take leadership in keeping it a place that represents who we are as stewards of what God has given us.

In order for this to be a successful class project and opportunity for the 9th graders to work together, we will need help in two ways. First, we will have an all class work day for all 9th grade students and families on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Parents and students are encouraged to attend, bring cleaning gloves, and $3 per person for a pizza lunch. Water, snacks, and all cleaning materials will be provided. Service hours will be given to all 9th graders working that day. Secondly, we are asking for financial donations from 9th grade families. Our goal is to raise $10,000. This project is approved and supported by the Northland administration. Donations can be brought to Building 1 in the form of a check or cash no later than Friday, August 3. The Northland business office will issue a receipt and send you a letter for your tax records. Checks can also be mailed to the school with “cafeteria renovation” written on the memo line.

The financial donations will support the following projects:

  • Painting the cafeteria, replacing switch plate and wall plate covers
  • Purchasing tables/carts for the microwaves
  • Creative Mural for the cafeteria
  • Purchasing Middle School and High School bulletin boards
  • Replacing fluorescent lights with LED’s
  • Installing hooks or system for backpacks to be hung up during lunch/sporting events

We are happy to announce we have had one family donate new tables with built in benches for the cafeteria (No more moving chairs!) and another family donate floor repairs! Please contact us if you would like to donate a specific item.

We are very excited about this project. Thank you for your help financially and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
