Preschool Back to School Information

Dear Families:

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Northland Christian School. I would like to thank you for entrusting your child/children to our care this year. I look forward to seeing our returning families and also getting to know the new ones.

I would like to invite you to attend the parent orientation on August 13th at 6:00 pm in the Chapel. The children will be able to meet their teacher and see their classroom. You will also have the opportunity to visit with The Healthy Lunchbox program, Athletics on Wheels, Soccer Shots, the Cougar Store and the Business Office in the Gym.

Here are a few items of interest that will make for an easy beginning of the year:

NEW HOURS OF OPERATION

The new extended care hours are from 6:45 am to 8:00 am and from 3:00 pm to 6:15 pm. The regular classroom hours will be the same, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

SCHOOL ARRIVAL

We encourage all parents to have their children in class between 8:00 and 8:30 am. A smooth, positive transition is crucial in making for a great day. Students will have plenty of free time before the structured day begins.

When coming into the building, please stop by the Welcome Desk and pick up a building pass card and take it with you when dropping off your child if it is between 8:00 and 8:30 am.  If you do arrive after 8:30 am you will have to scan your driver’s license and obtain a visitor’s pass. This is also the procedure when picking up your child in the afternoon.  Make sure and take a building pass card.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO SCHOOL

  • A backpack or bag with your child's name on it
  • A gallon-sized zip lock bag with an extra set of clothes in it with child's name on it (uniform clothes if 3 or 4 years old)
  • Stuffed animal (optional) for nap time
  • Small blanket
  • Mat (included in the Full Care plans) A king-sized pillow case fits perfect on the mats that we provide or that are bought from the Cougar Store.
  • Make sure that your child's name is on every piece of clothing and on their bag or backpack and lunch box.
  • If your child has been diagnosed with an allergy, we will need a copy of the doctor’s allergy plan. You can drop it off with Donell Manitz in the office.

BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS

  • Come to parent orientation on August 13th at 6:00 pm in the Chapel and bring your child to meet their teacher
  • Talk to your children and discuss the schedule that will be taking place: for example, getting up early, getting ready, what they need to take to school, etc.
  • Discuss with your child and make a list of healthy food and snacks that you can put in the lunch box
  • Talk about all the fun activities they will be participating in
  • Make sure that all the paper work has been turned in to the office

If you would like to add or change any of your child’s information, please email me the information or send it to Natalie Arezina (narezina@northlandchristian.org) and she can make changes or additions to the database (Renweb).

If you have any questions, please contact me or my assistant, Donell Manitz in the Preschool office, 281-440-1060, ext. 6479 or 281-440-1060, ext. 6480. I look forward to a successful year.

Blessings,
