The Northland Christian Girl's Volleyball Program just completed an incredible run to the TAPPS State Finals.

After finishing district play at 7-2 and district runner-up, the Lady Cougars defeated champions from two other districts to open their playoff campaign.

In the Round of 16, the Lady Cougars traveled to Geneva School of Boerne, the district champions from the San Antonio District. After a back and forth match, the team dominated Geneva in a decisive 5th set to move on to the state quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, they faced off with a very tough squad from the Texas School for the Deaf, the district champion from the Austin District. The Lady Cougars trailed in the decisive fifth set 8-5, but went on to win the set and the match to advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 2007!

The semifinals were held at Waco University High against a familiar foe, The Woodlands Christian Academy. This would mark the fifth time the two teams had faced off during the 2018 season. Again, the Lady Cougars trailed in the decisive fifth set, and again, they triumphed with the final score being made by Senior, Meredith Hinkle.

Though the year did not end in a state championship, the team put seven girls on the all district team, three girls on the academic all-state team, four girls on the all-state tournament team, reached the semifinals for the first time since 2007, and reached the state finals for the first time since 2000.

It truly was a historic season, and with only two seniors graduating, it looks as if history has a chance to repeat in 2019!

Congratulations to Aimee Langlois, Northland's HS Head Volleyball coach and to the rest of the coaching staff. What a great achievement for Coach Langlois in her first year at Northland!
