High School Theatre

Full Year
The high school theatre classes are designed to allow students to explore the many various aspects of theatre and performance. Students can take theatre classes all four years, with teacher approval, and receive honors credit for Theatre III and IV.

Some of the units covered include acting, improvisation, technical theatre, design and video production.

Students will have the opportunity to complete in solo and duet acting, short film, prop and costume design at the TAPPS 4A State Competition.

Theatre Productions

1 Semester
Northland stages a full scale, Broadway musical each year, open to all high school students (and sometimes middle and elementary students, depending on the show). The entire Fine Arts Department works together to stage these major productions, with students being able to perform in the show, work backstage, run the lighting and sound, work on costumes, makeup and props, as well as build and paint the sets. Students are also involved in taking the headshot pictures for the program.

Students have the opportunity to be evaluated by local theatre professionals and receive college scholarships by the school’s participation in the Tommy Tunes Awards.
