The Man Who Carried the Cross Around the World
Arthur Blessitt has completed a historic and unprecedented crosswalk in every nation on earth. He has carried on foot a 12 ft. cross for Jesus around the world since 1969. Through wars, deserts, jungles, 315 countries, 7 continents, and 38,102 miles (61,319 km) The Guinness Book of World Records 1996-2008 lists this as ‘The World’s Longest Walk’. This modern day pilgrim has faced a firing squad, been arrested 24 times, been through 52 countries at war, fasted 40 days, ran for President of the United States and has walked with 70,000 people across Poland. He has been on all major news worldwide. Billy Graham has walked with him, Pope John Paul II has welcomed him to Rome, Yasser Arafat has welcomed him to Beirut and he has slept in Prime Minister Begin's house in Israel. He has carried the cross through such places as Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Russia, China, South Africa, Lebanon, India, Antarctica, Palestine, Israel, Cuba, Libya, Yemen, Vietnam and Mongolia, etc. He has now been on the longest journey in the history of the world. Arthur says, "I love God and I love people. I try to keep it simple". Speaking of the walk he said, "Jesus did it! And it is all for the glory of God."
