Spiritual Renewal Day 2010
Wednesday, February 10

Wow, we were again blessed with another world-famous servant of God. Jesus continues to open doors for NCS to be visited passionate and gifted speakers. This year we had the honor to hear Mr. Arthur Blessitt, the man who carried a 12-foot cross into every country and major island group on the planet. This unprecedented adventure for Jesus took him almost 40 years of his life and landed him, not only in jail in multiple times, but also in the Guinness Book of Records for the “World’s Longest Walk” – Simply unparalleled journey of faith.

The stories were one after another, jaw-dropping, and hard to wrap one’s mind around how God used this man to literally share Jesus with almost every ethnic race on Earth. Needless to say, Arthur is gifted at communicating. His many victories were riveting. The students were engaged and laughed along with a man so full of energy and an overflowing childlike faith. Arthur might be the most unique missionary to ever live, and he walked each step with the most powerful visual aid to ever exist to prove the unrelenting love of Jesus: THE CROSS!

As usual on this day, God had surprises in store. Arthur of course traveled with his close companion, the cross. I never would have anticipated seeing the cross go crowd surfing. God used Arthur to establish a festive and joyous atmosphere, while poignantly and honestly conveying is ocean-deep love for Jesus.

Another surprise was the results of the most historic Care Net Diaper Drive yet. The goal was 20,000 diapers. Goal shattered. Try almost 35,000 diapers! Why, not just to honor God by serving this pro-life ministry, but also to see Jeff Johnson, an art teacher at NCS, have his head shaved into a Mohawk and a beard into, well, I am not exactly sure. Needless to say, he looked like some of the attendees at Montrose Street Reach. Thank you Jeff for the creative way you offered yourself to help us reach our goal, and then some.

To close the day we were blessed to see a play written by our very own Lauren Hance. Also starring in the play were two of our talented actors, Morgan Mogler and Tyler Hazard. And finally, I also thank the Worship Team for being the first student-led team ever to lead worship for this much-anticipated day. I am so proud of each of you!

Thank you Jesus for again answering so many prayers, and by doing so, giving us the privilege to honor you!
