MS Impact Lunch
Sunday, May 16, 2010 |
Our middle school students served a hot lunch to the members of Impact Church of Christ, which is an inner city church just north of downtown Houston. This effort has become a middle-school tradition.
I was initially concerned we would have enough help, because the end of the school year is upon us. This means minds are tired and weary from the long journey, and what energy is left, is being reserved for finals. Yuck! Also, the future focus is cemented on summer, sunburns, and sleep.
Praise Jesus my concerns were unfounded, as we still had plenty of energetic and enthusiastic students ready to prepare and deliver a hot plate of food to voracious appetites. The students look cute in their aprons, especially Justin Smith!
I love this event, as it is a perfect fit for junior high students. They have great attitudes, listen to instructions, and encourage each other. This is a fast-paced event once the blessing is said for the food. Hard work is needed to fill hungry stomachs and hydrate parched throats. Some serious lemonade is consumed during this meal! Great job MS! You again showed your genuine love for serving! I am proud of you!
