Team Casey!

On September 27, thirty-three Northland students and parents gathered at Katy Mills Mall for Walk MS. Together they formed Team Casey, a team in honor of Casey Etie alumni and daughter of Erin Parker. Two 6th graders, Caitlyn Vazquez and  Braden Eller, started the team with the goal of raising funds and awareness for MS when their fellow student, Emily Parker, requested prayers for her sister Casey who was recently diagnosed with MS. The team raised a total of $4,275.00.

Wow! What an incredible time we had Saturday at Katy Mills Mall.  I am so proud of the Middle School Students and parents, who sacrificed sleeping late to participate in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk.  Team Casey was AWESOME!  The team finished in second place overall in raising donations with over $4000.00 generated! Thank you NCS for your participation and prayers. I pray we can make a difference and find a cure so that no future parent ever has to hear the words, “Your child has MS.”  I am so glad to be a part of such a wonderful school.

From Caitlyn Vasquez:

How awesome did Team Casey do?  Team Casey was thirty-three team members strong!  We walked Saturday morning (September 27) at the Katy Mills Mall.  Casey Etie was even there to sign our MS bandanas!  There were prizes, music, and breakfast was served after we finished.  As of today (October 1), Team Casey has raised $4,255!  We will have a chance to walk again and be recognized for our fundraising when the Woodlands Multiple Sclerosis walk is rescheduled.  Thank you to everyone who chose to stand up against this disease.

From Braden Eller:

On Saturday morning, September 27th, I get up to get ready knowing that I am about to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. I am about to leave my room when I think about making a sign, so I cut out a sign that says, "For nothing will be impossible with God," and put it on one side of the paper and on the other side I put, “Team Casey.” When we get to the mall, I can see thousands of cars parked already. I walk in and the excitement is unbearable. There are so many people there, big and little, from one to sixty! That really shows that anyone can stand up and do something (even if they don't know what they are doing). As I walk over I see kids getting everyone pumped up by jumping rope double-dutch style. After they finish, they cut the tape and everyone goes forward. Bobby Stewart, Logan Owens, and I run forward and get ahead of everyone. During our first lap we see volunteers cheering us on. We had at least five pictures made. As we finish our first lap and see the line where we started we run past it as people cheer us on. The whole way we hold up the sign that said Team Casey. We make our second lap with the same enthusiasm. On our third lap we sprint to the finish line. Once we get there we notice that we finished first. We all jump up and down. Casey was there to see the whole thing. We had the most fun ever. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this event and everyone who joined or donated. Thank you!!
