This time we only took middle school students, and it was a great decision! They were so full of life and joy! They listened and followed instructions making for a great experience. Our student prepared drinks in the kitchen, loaded the plates with a hot meal, and served the grateful and appreciative recipients.
This event is fast-paced and intense. You get a good idea of what it would feel like to work in a restaurant during a rush. It is hard and satisfying work. It never ceases to amaze me how God has wired his children. Strangely enough, we find the peace we crave when we are working as the hands and feet of Jesus. We are at the center of God’s will for us when are emptying ourselves in his name. Only in the spiritual realm does emptying result in fullness!
For our students, these are the events they will most likely remember when they look back on their time at Northland. Serving together is a powerful tool in shaping our students for a future of serving Jesus.
