Cougar Christmas at the Arrow Project
Saturday, December 13, 2008

Praise God for another amazing Cougar Christmas! This annual party for foster children was again held at The Arrow Project, a remarkable facility designed to serve these often neglected, yet precious and priceless children.

For this event, the Arrow Project and Northland combine efforts to treat these kids like royalty! Santa Claus was present and the NCS Jazz Band delivered energetic and upbeat tunes. NCS students provided the crafts and manpower for all the exciting stations, which included face painting, ornament and cookie decorating, coloring, story-time, and outdoor activities.

There were bouncy children around every corner and many thankful foster parents. A traditional and hearty Christmas dinner was delivered, and presents were given. The atmosphere was truly celebratory and giving.

Personally, I enjoyed a game I created by throwing a football to the outstretched hands of eager children, who tried to catch the pass as they were going down the bounce house slide. Kids were lining up and laughing uncontrollably as they tried to catch the pass. I was amazed at how much joy was created by such a simple game. The children loved and needed the attention they were receiving.

As God’s children we are at the heart of God’s will for our lives when we serve God’s children, especially the needy and neglected. On this day our students served admirably.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
(James 1:27 NIV)
