THANKS-FOR-GIVING BLOOD DRIVE
Monday, November 3, 2008
Secondary Campus, Room 725

This was the third drive for the Christian Council to host, and it was hosted with remarkable results! We collected a personal school record 71 UNITS! This student-led event saves lives, literally! With all the advancements in the world, still only God can make blood. Only a human can unselfishly give his or her blood to someone in need. Donating a piece of your life is, in my opinion, heroic.

The spiritual application is obvious. Humans donate one unit and feel a little tired for a couple of days. Jesus gave every last bit and now we can be forgiven and live victoriously! As Scripture says, “and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Heb 9:22b NIV).

This was truly a team effort. Teachers allow students to leave class to give. Coaches allow athletes to give and miss practice to recover. Students not old enough to give still find ways to serve. Parents graciously signed waivers for sixteen-year-old students to donate. Students scared of needles and the sight of blood overcame fears to save lives. In sum, I could not be more proud of our students and school!

I want to thank Mardel, Chick-fil-A, Smoothie King, and Starbucks for graciously donating prizes for our random drawing. I also wish to thank our very own, Mr. Kraner, for donating his official Principal parking spot for a week as a prize in the drawing. Way to give that Cougar blood!
