TobyMac/Barlow Girl/Thousand Foot Krutch Concert
Saturday, November 10, 2007 / The Berry Center

My ears are still ringing! TobyMac is a seasoned performer with multiple Grammy Awards in his back pocket. Simply put, he makes no apologies for walking with Jesus Christ. From his days with DC Talk, his lyrics have consistently been and remain bold for Jesus Christ. My two girls love his music and I consider him one of my earthly heroes for the way he gets their attention.

For these reasons I took a deep breath and transported NCS fourth, fifth, and sixth graders to this electric show. My wife and dad (a.k.a. “GrandBob”) joined the group on this true adventure. The lyrics of Barlow Girl and their message of sexual purity and self-confidence found through the unconditional love of Christ appeal magnificently to a generation of young ladies suffering from low self-esteem.

I would like to extend a “Shout out!” to the brave parents who corralled and closely monitored the most energetic group of students I have ever encountered in my days on this planet. Yikes. I was especially humored how each one “bonked” after his or her bedtime. Our students went from standing, yelling and screaming, to sitting and staring off into dreamland.

My MVP (Most Valuable Praiser) goes to Miss Amanda Deaton and one of two teenagers who attended, Christi Stewart, for standing and screaming the entire show…literally.
