Special Guest Speaker: Nick Vujicic

I am at a loss of words to adequately describe how God moved through the students on Spiritual Renewal Day. To say the LORD used Nick Vujicic in mighty and great ways would be an understatement for those privileged enough to witness the heartfelt and genuine response from students and faculty alike. For many students, just saying “February 6, 2008” will be enough.
Nick brought humor. Nick brought sincerity. Nick brought passion. Nick brought truth. Nick brought change. For a brief moment I almost forgot he had no arms and legs. For a man with no arms, the hug I received from him felt as if I was hugging Jesus for the first time. Nick’s eyes told the truth, and his eyes represented Christ. What a poignant reminder to Christ-followers that we are called to represent our Savior by our actions. Walking with Jesus is not about religion, it is about a love affair. We are the bride of Christ (Ephesians 5). Nick was profoundly effective in communicating God’s never-ending love. Nick was skilled in convincing all present that God has breathed life, and a unique and special purpose, into each individual priceless soul He has created (Psalm 139). In my ministry career I have never seen an evangelist present the Gospel in such a pure and simple form. I have never seen a speaker disarm a group of students more successfully than Nick Vujicic did on Spiritual Renewal Day. Praise God!
So many prayers lifted. So many prayers answered. God used Nick to get the attention of each and every precious student. When it came time to respond, respond the students did, as one collective body! Without a doubt, the moment was Spirit-led and my goal became to stay out of the way and simply treasure the moment. The students formed a line and one at a time accepted Nick’s offer of a hug. The best way for me to describe the scene is to appeal to the sense of hearing. The spiritual frequency of the room was tuned into Jesus. The message of the Cross was loud and clear!
Celebrate the day. That is what the students have been doing with the conference created for them in the NCS electronic world. Their offerings are amazing. What a privilege it is for me and all the faculty members to read their testimonies and celebrate with them the fruits of what many will consider the most celebrated day in school history. A veteran employee said that very statement to me, and of course, after receiving a hug from Nick.
