When I was asked to help raise the funds needed to complete a teenage-produced documentary on the life of Nick Vujicic, I knew the Northland secondary student body needed to be involved. It seemed like an obvious opportunity to serve considering the positive impact still being felt on the NCS campus since our visit from this passionate follower of Christ, who happened to be born without arms and legs. Nick inspired and challenged us, so this was our chance to serve him in return.
An old-school car wash was the first suggestion. As a veteran Youth Pastor, my fingers are still wrinkled from a career of car washes. I asked Saphrin, who works with Dallas Christian Filmmakers, to wait patiently for an idea from the Lord on how to raise the final $1600.00 needed for the production costs. A few days later, as I was walking towards Zach Guerrero, who is a student and talented drummer on the campus of NCS, I felt in that instant how God wanted us to raise the money. I immediately asked Zach if he would consider performing a long drum solo in the name of Jesus and Zach immediately agreed, almost as if he expected me to ask. It was so cool~
The “Drumathon” was born and Zach, during a Friday Chapel service, played the drums continually for 45 minutes! It was sweet and the video is already on YouTube. Students donated loose change and bills in coffee cans, which were being circulated during the performance. In sum, the NCS student body raised the needed funds and God was glorified. Our prayer is for the ministry God is working through Nick Vujicic to continue to advance.

THANKS from the producer:
May 10, 2008
Dear Rich Reaves
and Northland Christian School,
Words cannot express how grateful I am for all that you have done for, The Nick Project! Thank you so much for raising just what we needed to meet our fundraising goal! It was so amazing to see Zach Guerrero through the “Drumathon” raise $1,600 in 45 minutes! Our hearts were so moved by your school jumping onboard with this documentary, which will change lives for the Lord’s Kingdom! The title, “Measure of a Man,” will encourage men of all ages to be mighty men of God through Nick Vujicic’s example of a life lived with purpose, hope and great passion! Northland Christian School will be abundantly rewarded for all that you have done to get this project off the ground. May the Lord bless you extravagantly, grow you immensely and support you abundantly! Lord willing, we look forward to joining with you for the Houston premiere of this film in October!
In His Service,
Stephanie Carrillo & Saphrin Sansing
