Serving Lunch to the
Impact Church Congregation
Sunday, December 3, 2006
A group of ten students and faculty, along with Bammel members, boarded a yellow bus on Sunday to serve lunch to the members of the Impact Church in downtown Houston . As volunteers our responsibility was to set up the tables and chairs and to serve the meal, which was prepared in advance at the NCS Elementary Cafeteria. Our students were full of smiles and eagerly loaded plates full of food, which included one of my favorites, green beans with the crunchy onion strings on top! One student kept us all laughing by the way she kept smashing the already mashed potatoes before serving them. Other students carried the plates of food to the hungry recipients. The time flew by and the Impact members were grateful.
When we were boarding the bus for the return trip home, one of our young men mentioned how much joy he felt through serving the Lord. There's just something right about serving the Lord. When we serve in the name of Jesus, we are doing what God designed us to do. When we serve, we find the true purpose of life…To make God look good! When we serve, we are at the center of God's will for our life. In sum, serving the Lord equals peace found.

Mark your calendar FEBRUARY 11, 2007 and APRIL 22, 2007 for two more chances for serving lunch to the Impact Church congregation.

John 12:25-26
(New Living Translation)
25 Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.
26 Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
Matthew 10:38-39
(New Living Translation)
38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. 39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. |
