What is the PTO?
- Non profit parent teacher organization whose membership includes all parents and legal guardians of students and staff at NCS.
What does the PTO do?
- Sponsor assistance to teachers in the classroom
- Raise funds for educational materials
- Support school and family social interaction
- Provide a non biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children
- Promote a team effort to encourage the best possible learning environment for our children
How is the PTO funded?
- Annual membership dues
- Fundraisers throughout the year
What is required of a PTO member?
- Participation is not required for membership but is always appreciated
How do I join the PTO?
- By mail: Fill out the attached form and mail it with payment to: NCS PTO, 4363 Sylvanfield Drive, Houston, TX 77014
- Drop off completed form with payment to Building 1 at Secondary or Welcome Desk at Elementary
- Online: From the NCS website, www.northlandchristian.org, select QUICK LINKS located in the upper right corner, select PTO, select the appropriate link, and follow the instructions. Please note that if you pay online, PTO pays a surcharge. Paying by check or cash allows PTO to use 100% of your donation to benefit the school and the students.
Services provided by the PTO
On the secondary campus over the last nine years, the PTO has contributed more than $360,000 benefiting Northland. Some examples of our support are:
Facility improvements such as security, projectors, and computers - $63,000
Library support – books, shelving, computer reading tests, computers - $25,000
Handbells for Fine Arts Program - $10,000
Professional development and teacher training - $36,000
Partial funding of Technology Training Room - $15,000
Support of Spiritual Life activities - $22,000
Our fundraising efforts in the 2009-2010 school year,
coupled with elementary PTO and the administration, raised $190,000
used to remodel classrooms in Buildings 2, 3 and 4

The PTO supports the NCS staff by:
Organizing parent donations for staff Christmas Fund
Providing staff appreciation lunches
Supplying bottled water and healthy snacks for teacher workrooms
Providing monthly birthday recognition
Providing resources for classrooms & funding professional development

The PTO supports NCS families by:
Providing social and spiritual development at annual parent/child events
Providing orientation and mentoring to new families
Communicating with parents through Grade Level Representatives
Hosting Graduation and Honor Society receptions
Assisting with Homecoming Dinner & Dance, Middle School Social, Festivals
Providing facility improvements
