Three Northland students chosen for TCDA Elementary All State Choir

In March, 10 students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade were invited to audition for the Texas Choral Directors Association Elementary Honor Choir. This auditioned choir is made up of only 150 students from all over the state of Texas in both public and private schools and is considered to be the "All State Choir" for Elementary. Shown below, the 10 students chosen to audition were:

4th grade: Marley Wheless, Corban Glass, Walker Moores
5th grade: Reagan Wilson, Brody Butler, Christopher Trenholme, Isaiah Nelson, Shelby Doku
6th grade: Paris Ruzicka, Rachel Warnock

Northland is thrilled to announce we had 3 students chosen for the choir! There were over 1000 separate auditions for only 150 spots! The 3 students chosen:

  • 4th grader Marley Wheless
  • 5th grader Reagan Wilson
  • 6th grader Rachel Warnock
Wheless Wilson

These students will prepare a challenging repertoire of music and spend 3 days in San Antonio before performing a glorious concert in the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center in front of choir directors (college down to elementary) from all over Texas. They will be under the esteemed direction of Ms Ruth Dwyer; Associate Director for the Indianapolis Children's Choir and Artistic Director of the Columbus, Indiana Children's Choir. Ms. Dwyer is a master teacher and this is a fabulous opportunity to work with one of the best in the business! Congratulations to these students! The convention is July 26-28 with the concert on July 28.
