NCS Tardy Policy

Elementary Tardy Policy
The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m.  Any student not in the classroom by 8:00 a.m. will be considered tardy.  All tardies are considered unexcused unless the principal deems that an extenuating circumstance was unavoidable (i.e.  traffic accident on FM 1960 that backed up traffic, severe weather that slowed traffic). Tardy students must sign in with Student Services at the Welcome Center, with a parent escort, to receive a tardy slip.  Daily promptness is essential and young children are dependent on adults to be on time.  Tardiness is disruptive and detrimental to the learning process.

Excessive Tardiness Consequences
After 3 tardies recorded during any 9 weeks grading period, the student’s conduct grade will be dropped one level per excessive tardy (beginning on 4th tardy).  Students that have 8 or more tardies during a nine week grading period will be placed on probation for the following nine weeks grading period.  If tardies continue to be excessive after being placed on probation, the student is subject to not being allowed to return to NCS the following semester.
