Grade Guidelines and Procedures

Academic grades should reflect a student's mastery of the content and concepts that we want our students to master.

• Grades will not be given as incentives. (i.e. 100 for bringing a bag of candy)

• Discipline issues (work habits or behavior issues) will not be reflected in a student's academic grade. (i.e. forgot to write a complete heading, was talking so took points off of grade) These will be handled through a students work habits grade or through the discipline system.

• Grades will be kept confidential. Grades will never be written for other students or parents to see. Grades will also never be called out loud. Grading of other student's work is not appropriate.

• One grade per week (minimum) should be taken for daily work per subject. (This means a minimum of 9 daily grades per 9 weeks)

• Three major grades (minimum) per 9 weeks.

• Grades will be posted into Renweb at a minimum of two times per week.

• Testing Policy
   - If 50% or more of students fail a particular test:
      • Re-teaching is required
      • Retesting is required
      • The first test will be dropped and replaced with the second test
      • This process will be repeated until a majority of the students pass
      • It is non-productive to move ahead when over half the class does not
        understand what has been taught.
   - Tests will cover only material taught in class.
   - A test review will be given for every major test. It will contain all of the concepts and ideas that will be tested.
