Standing Committees

Campus Cookie Sales

Coordinates with Grade Level Representatives to organize volunteers to bake and sell cookies on the Secondary campus. Responsible for keeping a sufficient inventory of pre-measured frozen cookie dough and baking supplies in stock and stored in the school kitchens to be available to volunteer bakers.  

Box Tops Program

Responsible for organizing, promoting and implementing the Box Tops program on the Elementary campus.  A competition and simple rewards between Elementary classes may be implemented with executive board and campus principal approval. 

Grade Representatives

Grade Representatives act as a liaison between the PTO and their grade level parents and shall communicate to them, in a timely fashion, relevant PTO sponsored events and activities.  Duties include, but are not limited to, promotion the general welfare of the PTO, host a grade level social activity for parents at the start of each school year, assist board members with PTO sponsored events such as Black & Gold Event, welcome new families and students and secure volunteers as necessary for PTO sponsored activities which include, but are not limited to, Black & Gold Event, Receptions, and Campus Cookie Sales. Certain Grade Levels have additional responsibilities as follows:

  • Elementary Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to assist with Spirit Games, Teacher Lunch Out Program, and coordinate grade level class art for Black & Gold.
  • 1st Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to serve cake and punch at the Stepping Up Ceremony/Reception for preschool through kindergarten classes.
  • 4th Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to serve cake and punch at the 5th Grade Graduation reception.
  • 7th Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to serve cake and punch at the 8th Grade Graduation reception.
  • 8th Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to assist the Homecoming Chairman with the Homecoming Dinner & Dance.
  • 11th Grade Reps: responsible for providing parent volunteers to serve cake and punch at the 12th Grade Graduation reception.
Grandparents' Day

Responsible for planning and execution of all set up, clean up, food and decorations for the annual Grandparents' Day event. Assists the elementary campus P.E. coaches and P.E. Representatives to establish a theme and secure volunteers for the P.E. Show in conjunction with Grandparents' Day. Coordinates the schedule with the elementary campus administrators.

Homecoming

Responsible for the organization and execution of the annual High School Homecoming Dinner and Dance, in conjunction with Northland students and administrators. Committee duties include, but are not limited to, securing a facility, photographer and disc jockey; selecting a dinner menu, decorations (in conjunction with the 8th Grade Representatives), and music; and establishing a ticket price.  

Elementary Campus Library Representative

Responsible for securing and coordinating volunteers for reading time and library work as requested by the librarian. Assist the librarian with the fall and spring book fair events and recruit volunteers to set up and work the events. Assist with guest author and library events as needed.  

Muffins with Mom & Donuts with Dad

Responsible for forming committee that will coordinate the planning, organizing and executing these two annual Elementary events.

Family Events

Responsible for planning and organizing events, which encourage parental involvement with their Northland children. These events shall be scheduled as interest and volunteer availability warrant.

PE Representative

Responsible for set up, clean up and distribution of popcorn and drinks for monthly Spirit Games at the Elementary campus. Assists elementary campus PE coaches, and coordinates with Grandparents' Day Committee members to establish a theme and secure volunteers for the annual PE Show. Assists elementary campus PE coaches as needed.

Teacher Support

Responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of duties that encourage and honor Northland staff throughout the school year. These duties include, but are not limited to, providing special treats, coordinating staff luncheons, and providing snacks for teachers on both campuses throughout the school year.
