Northland Christian School is a co-educational, college preparatory school founded in 1974. NCS currently enrolls nearly 1,000 students in preschool through 12th grade. The faculty is composed of dedicated, degreed Christian professionals including a large number of our personnel who hold advanced degrees and are leaders in their fields of study.
NCS offers a demanding college preparatory curriculum which includes practical training to help students in all grade levels cope with the various stages of life they are currently facing as well as the future phases to come. In addition, NCS strives to train our Christian, sensitive, and competent teachers in the most advanced methods to reach all of the diverse learning styles of our students as the curriculum is implemented. For example, the Buck Institute for Education (BIE) recently provided extensive training for our secondary faculty in Project Based Learning (PBL), a systematic teaching method that engages students in learning knowledge and skills through an extended inquiry process structured around complex, authentic questions and carefully designed products and tasks (BIE).
All curriculum and activities offered by Northland are intended to help nurture, educate, and develop the whole child for the glory of God. NCS consistently relies on numerous resources to ensure that the instructional strategies and curriculum content remain developmentally appropriate for all of our students.
In general, the NCS curriculum is accelerated to meet the needs of the above average student. The student population historically averages at or above the 80th percentile on national achievement tests. We also proudly boast that our ACT scores for NCS graduates have improved every year for the last five years. Additionally, students continue to average well above the state and national norms for all college bound students.
