Mission Statement
Northland Christian School 's mission is to provide academic excellence in a Christian environment enabling children to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially.

Message Points
These are the key ideas used in developing specific content about Northland Christian School . They should be conveyed in all communications materials to effectively influence the School's brand perception.

Written Standards

Using “Northland Christian School” in reference

Write out “Northland Christian School” when first referring to the school in any text. In subsequent mentioning, “NCS” or “Northland” may be used to reference the school.

Website Name
The School's website should be written: northlandchristian.org. Use all lowercase letters.

Official Writing Style Manual
The School's official writing guide is the Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual.

Marketing Signature

The Northland Christian School Signature
The NCS cross signature has two components: a graphic element (stylized cross) and a text element the logotype. Any deviation from this signature must be approved by the Administration Office.

Fixed Elements

The elements of the signature are comprised in a fixed relationship to each other both in size and proximity. The relationship should not be altered in any way. The signature may not be enclosed in a graphic element or shape.

Configurations of the Signature
There is one approved and acceptable placement of the logo element in relation to the logotype.


Colors

Northland Christian's school colors are Black and “Vegas Gold” (Metallic PMS 8641). When gold is not available, the signature may be reproduced in black; and if printing on a dark, even-toned background, you may reproduce the signature “knocked out” in white.

Clear Space
The minimum clear space around the signature should not include any other graphic elements. It guarantees the signature's readability and impact. The clear space may be greater than the minimum required. Other graphic elements should not invade this space. The minimum clear space for the logo is the X-Factor, the height of the N in Northland. The X will change proportionally as the signature increases and decreases in size.




Size

The signature should be clearly visible on all material that identifies the School. The only exceptions include: internal communications, posters or banners inside the School. The size of the signature should never be smaller than 1” horizontal.



Typography
Book Antiqua and Arial are intended to be used as primary and secondary typefaces.

Color in School Publications
The NCS colors are essential elements of the Northland Christian School graphic identity. By consistently using the approved colors the School strengthens its image and presence.

The approved colors should be used whenever possible to create visual continuity in multiple communications pieces.

One-Color Publication
If a publication prints in one-color, black should be chosen.

Two-Color Publication
If a publication prints in two-color, the NCS logo must appear in black, PMS Metallic 8641 (“Vegas” gold) or white (reverse) only.

Four-Color Publication
When printing a four-color process the full palette of colors may be used as long as the School's logos appear in PMS Metallic 8641 (“Vegas” gold) black or white.

Printing on Colored Paper
When printing any external communication pieces any paper color can be chosen; however, the NCS logos must appear in black or white only.

What defines a School publication?
Any print, electronic or web communication that is delivered to an external audience
is a School publication. Examples include (but not limited to): flyers, brochures,
e-newsletters, web content, posters, banners, visitor take-away, advertisements, press releases, stationery, letterhead.

All NCS publications will follow the guidelines below:
•  The School's signature will be clearly visible on all materials that have the potential to leave Northland.
•  The correct use of color and typography guidelines will be followed.
•  The School's slogan and statement will be visible on the publication when possible. The slogan will be in Book Antiqua and the statement will be in Arial. Both the slogan and statement will be in a 10-point font or larger.

Brochures and Flyers
•  The correct School signature will be clearly visible.
•  The correct use of color and typography guidelines will be followed.

Review/Approval Process
School publications are created by various entities within the organization. Print, electronic and/or web communications should be reviewed by Administration. In order to ensure prompt turn around, please allow up to three business days for review.

Athletic Graphics
The Cougar head logo is Northland's primary athletic symbol and is used on materials primarily related to athletics. The proportions of the logo should not be altered in any way. The Cougar Head logo may not be enclosed in a graphic element or shape. Any deviation from this signature must be approved by the Administration Office.

A secondary athletic symbol is the Northland NC which has been used primarily in the past for baseball.

For both athletic logos, the NCS-approved colors are Pantone Metallic 8641 (“Vegas” gold), black or white. Any deviation from these colors must be approved by the Administration.

Clear Space
The minimum clear space around the Cougar head logo should not include any other graphic elements. It guarantees the Cougar head's readability and impact. The clear space may be greater than the minimum required. Other graphic elements should not invade this space. The minimum clear space for the logo is the X-Factor as shown below. The X will change proportionally as the Cougar head increases and decreases in size. Graphic designers may take graphic license as needed and must be approved by the Administration.
