| After beginning the week with a tough loss to Faith West, the Varsity volleyball team headed out to Baytown Christian for their first tournament of the season. Thursday pool play began shakey as the team split back to back matches with a scrappy CHSA and a tall Lutheran South. After a break and time to regroup, the team took care of business and closed out The Woodlands Christian Academy earning a second place finish in pool and securing a position in the Gold bracket. |

Saturday proved to be not only a physical battle, but a mental battle as well. The Cougars balanced a long day in a very "warm" gym and still managed to knock out Rosehill Tomball and district competitors Emery-Weiner. These two wins moved the team into the championship match versus Lutheran South. After an early match up with South on Thursday both teams and coaches were ready to go head to head again. The Cougars made great defensive adjustments to counter the physicality of South and played tough, relentless volleyball. After two tough games, and with experience on their side, South earned the title.
We are happy with the success of our first tournament, but will continue to work hard and grow as a team.
Special nods to senior Shelbey Perkins and junior Courtney Davis for earning All Tournament awards.
The Varsity volleyball team will head out to Covenant Christian this weekend to chase down another championship weekend. |
