The B team was still on "vacation" tonight in their match against Bay Area. The Broncos had some strong servers and the Cougars could not answer those serves. Our serving was down as well. Scores were 3-25 and 14-25. Good game play today by Victoria Williams; she was our leading server.
The A team came to play today! The coaches had put in a new offense and the girls really put together an A game, and put it together against a good team from Bay Area. Leading server, Madison Flowers. Great defensive play by Shelbey Perkins. Score 25-16 and 25-19. |

Long night of Volleyball, but the girls certainly got some needed experience. On Court 1, the B team took 2nd place behind St. Annes Catholic School. Most valuable player for the evening was Miranda Tosh, most improved player of the evening was Hailey Cannon.
On Court 2, the C team was paired against some tough competition, one being the Xtreme VB Club team. WHEW! Most notable about our team was their camaraderie and their willingness to keep fighting even when the odds were against them.
Leading server of the evening was Katie Norwood, best passer was Annalise Massey, and best net play by Taylor Huff. |

B team played well during the tournament and I don't know what happened today, except we were playing a team that definitely had a size advantage. We lost our first District match against Faith West. Chelsea Scott was our leading server. Scores were 15-25 and 12-25.
The A team played very good defense tonight. The Faith West A team had a height advantage, but we didn't let that stop us.
Great serving by Brianna Pierce and best all around player was Liz Abt. First District win! Scores were 25-17 and 25-16. |

Runner Up |
The A team girls put in lots of hours today at the Concordia Tournament. After splitting with Salem Lutheran in the morning pool play, Northland went into bracket play. The girls defeated Covenant Christian 17-11, 17-15. The next round was against a tough team from Trinity Lutheran.
The Cougars played hard and were able to pull a come back win in three, 19-17, 14-17,
17-14. We literally walked from one court to the next to play the Championship round. Unfortunately, we were spent and the team from Salem Lutheran took 1st place, 14-17,
10-17.
Congratulations to the Concordia Lutheran Runner up! |

Monday- not alot of turn around for the A team and a District Match to play. The girls were in control, but poor serving allowed SATCH to stay close. Final score, Northland 25-20, 25-17.
The B team came prepared tonight and won their second District game. Miranda Tosh and Arnelle Pender were key to our success.
The first game was a close one, but the Cougars stayed tough and pulled it off.

I am so proud of the B team! The last time we met Bay Area, they beat us 25-3 in the first game. The Cougars showed such improvement today. We took the Broncos to three games and just barely lost. Good game by Megan Stennis, she led in serving and had a nice passing game as well. Arnelle Pender was the hitting queen! Scores: 25-18, 9-25, 12-15.
The A team pulled a win tonight, but we really had to work on it. The girls just never got into a rhythm. I continue to be impressed by the way the girls are able to pull together when the going gets tough. Leading server was Ali Knudson.
Scores: 19-25, 25-14, 16-14. |

Way to finish B Team! These girls have gradually improved and finished with pizazz tonight against Woodlands Prep. Strong serving by Miranda Tosh, good net play by Victoria Williams, and consistent passing by Sarah Byrne gave us the win tonight. Scores 26-24, 25-21.
Congratulations to each member of this team on an outstanding finish to the Volleyball season.
The A team takes on another undefeated team in District and falls short in the third game. There were some excellent rallies and strong serving by both teams. Madison Flowers and Alyssa Brady led our team in serves, Liz Abt gets another kill. All around player of the night goes to Alyssa Brady. Scores: 25-27, 25-23, 13-15 SO CLOSE!!
The A team finishes their District season on Thursday against Rosehill Christian.

The A team travels to Rosehill Christian for the District Volleyball Tournament. Our first match was with the #7 seed, Woodlands Christian. This game was rather uneventful, but Ali Knudson must be recognized for her serving. In this two game match, she served 7 in a row, twice! Scores: 25-10, 25-10
Our next game was against the #4 seed, Faith West Academy. This team gave us a little more competition. Faith West has some talent and can put together a game, but the Cougars took care of business, looking toward the Championship match. Scores: 26-17, 25-16.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Northland vs. Cypress Christian. We lost to them in 3 during the regular season and these teams are very evenly matched, it was going to be a battle. The Warriors jumped to a lead in the first game, Cougars played fairly well, but not well enough.
Score 17-25. Northland was determined the second game, led in serving by Brianna Pierce and Amanda Organ. We took this game easily, 25-8. This is exactly what happened our last match up. Would history repeat itself?? The first few points of the third game belonged to Cypress. Northland time-out. Our serving is costing us crucial points. Madison Flowers steps up and gets us 2 points on the serve.
Cypress moves ahead 7 -10. Northland time-out. The Warriors scored 2 more, 7 - 12. 6th grader, Amanda "Yellow Socks" Organ serves 5 in a row! Cypress time out and Cougars lead, 13-12. Amanda steps up and finishes the game with two great serves and Northland wins, 15-12.
Northland regains its District Title! Congratulations to this group of girls! What a great season. |
