The Cougar swimmers had an outstanding State Swim Meet. The boys were led by Josh Hawkins and David Gomen. Joshed placed third in the 100 yard freestyle and fourth in the 50 yard freestyle . David placed fifth in the 100 yard backstroke. David and Josh teamed with Zack Weibe and Hieu Nguyen and placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay. The boys finished seventh in the team scores.
     The girls finished a strong second place in the team standings. Courtney Nunley, Adriana Pierce, Lauren Lawson, and Haley Wilson began the meet with a season best time in the 200 yard medley relay and took the silver medal. Meaghan Gomm finished fourth and fifth in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles respectively. Both of her times were her best. Courtney Nunley and Lauren Lawson both placed in two individual events and Adriana Pierce placed in one. Two very exciting individual races included the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. Haley Wilson and Brynn Scherz finished second and third in the 50 while Haley won the 100 with Brynn finishing second. The final and most exciting race of the day was the 400 yard freestyle relay. Going into the race the Cougars were seeded three seconds behind the leading team. The girls knew it would take their best time of ever to win. After the first leg they were behind, but Meaghan Gomm had done her job and stayed close the other team's very fast lead-off swimmer. She finished with her best time of the year. Brynn Scherz went second and quickly made up the deficit and took the lead. She too had her best time of the year. Courtney Nunley then dropped her time by three seconds and extended the lead. At that point there was no doubt that with Haley Wilson swimming anchor they were going to win. When the race was over the girls had gone 13 seconds faster than their prelim time and out distanced second place by nearly 4 seconds.
