The Lady Cougars once again showed improvement as they took on the Lady Chargers of Incarnate Word Academy on Tuesday. Offensively the team had their best game yet.  Six different players had hits for the Lady Cougars. The offense was led by senior Ashley Scott who was three for four and sophomore Brittany Flowers who was two for four.  Juniors Laura Ashley and Kelsey Hickman led the team with two RBIs, while freshman Marissa Hernandez had one. Defensively, pitcher Ashley Sheffield continued to do a great job on the mound getting most of the Lady Chargers to ground out. Laura did an outstanding job at shortstop making several great defensive plays but the play of the game definitely goes to Brittany. After charging in to make an incredible catch in right field she threw in behind the runner at first to give the Lady Cougars their first double play of the year.  With each game we play we continue to improve but this game definitely showed the team some other areas that we still need to work on. The girls continue to play hard each game with the goal of always being the hardest working team on the field as well as the classiest.
