Playing their final game of the season against the Lady Wildcats of Westbury Christian the Lady Cougars were looking to end their season with a win. After several games of not putting their hits together the Lady Cougars finally rallied and scored a season high 13. Leading the offensive charge was Laura Ashley who was four for four with four solid hits. Kelsey Hickman and Ashley Scott each added three hits, while Mary Lacy Knapp, Megan Schulte and Marissa Hernandez each added two apiece. Sarah Steele and Jessica Maddox added a single hit apiece to give the Lady Cougars a season high 18 hits! The Lady Cougars jumped on the board early scoring nine in the first inning and adding a few runs each additional inning. Ashley Sheffield did an outstanding job on the mound, just as she has done all year, and finished with a shutout. The final score was 13 – 0.
This marked the end of a hard season for the Lady Cougars. Although the season was marked with losses the Lady Cougars never once gave up. This particular group of girls always gave me every bit of effort they had and always left it all on the field. A coach couldn’t ask for anything more. But more importantly this group of girls represented Christ well. Many years from now people will not remember our record, or how many hits we had this year. However, people will remember how these girls played and who they played for, not their coach but their Creator. |
