The Lady Cougars limped into their last district match up against the Lady Mustangs of Lutheran North with limited numbers.  With Brittany Flowers, our starting second baseman, out due to a sprained ankle, Marissa Hernandez had to step up and fill her position.  With Marissa on the field our dugout was empty of players.  For the first few innings the game was intense.  The Lady Mustangs got on the board early scoring 2 runs in the first two innings.  However, the Lady Cougars came back in the third inning to score one.  After Laura Ashley singled over the 3rd baseman’s head, she advanced to second on her 13th stolen base of the district season.  Sarah Steel then had a great at bat and reached first on a walk.  After a passed ball that advanced both runners, Kelsey Hickman lined a ball to center to score Laura and advance Sarah to third.  However, after that we just couldn’t seem to connect with the ball.  Leaving two runners in scoring position we finished the inning with just one run.  In the bottom of the fourth it seemed like nothing could go right for the Lady Cougars.  The Lady Mustangs scored 11 unanswered runs and the game ended with a score of 13 – 1.  The Lady Cougars look to finish their season strong tonight against Westbury Christian Academy.
