The Lady Cougars came out on Friday ready to get a win for senior Ashley Scott, as we took the night to recognize our only senior. As the Lady Cougars took the field the Lady Pioneers of Lutheran South had other plans in mind. In the first inning the Lady Pioneers jumped out to an early lead of 4 – 0 and never looked back. The Lady Cougars struggled at the plate finishing the game with only two hits, a single by Laura Ashley and a triple by Kelsey Hickman. Laura scored on her single after an errant attempt by the catcher to throw her out at first. This ended up being the only run the Lady Cougars scored. The game ended with a score of 11 – 1. This seemed to be one of those games when nothing seemed to go right for the home team and everything seemed to go right for the opposing team. However, at the end of the game the coaches, team and fans took time to pay tribute to our one and only senior this year.
SENIOR - ASHLEY SCOTT
Ashley has done an excellent job this year as she has anchored our outfield by running down numerous balls from center field. I have had numerous coaches comment on her quickness and speed. It has been an honor and privilege to coach Ashley these past two years and I am thankful for all that she has contributed to this team and program for the past four years. Throughout these years she has achieved several awards, including Honorable Mention All-District (2005), 2nd Team All-District (2006), and the prestigious honor of 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-State in 2007. These honors show her continued improvement throughout her career. It is also an indication of the time and effort she has put into this program. Ashley has been a great example for our team of what it means to play with heart and hustle this year. We will certainly miss her next year. |
