The Lady Cougars were looking to avenge a hard loss to the Lady Mustangs on Monday when they played at Houston Christian.  The previous game against the Lady Mustangs had left a bad taste in the mouth of the Lady Cougars due to the fact that they were missing a few key players.  The Lady Mustangs got on the board early by scoring a run in the first inning.  The defense of the Lady Cougars held tough after that holding the Lady Mustangs scoreless for the next four innings.  The Lady Cougars were able to tie the game in the top of the fifth only to have the Lady Mustangs score another run in the bottom of the inning.  The score remained 2 – 3 until the seventh inning.  With only one at bat left the Lady Cougars reached deep and started the inning with Laura Ashley getting hit by a pitch.  Kelsey Hickman then put down a great bunt that allowed Laura to advance to second.  Ashley Sheffield then came up with a clutch hit that allowed Laura to score the tying run.  The tie didn’t last long as the Lady Mustangs put together several key hits.  With two outs and runners at second and third a hard hit ball managed to squeeze between third and shortstop that allowed the winning run to score.  Several Lady Cougars hit the ball well this game but we simply left too many runners on base.  Sarah Steele, Laura Ashley and Mary Lacy Knapp each went two for three at the plate.  Brittany Flowers also did a great job at the plate going two for four.  The Lady Cougars had a total of 11 hits but just could not put the hits together when it counted.
