SUMMARY
The Warriors of The Woodlands Christian came down to play last night. TWCA are one of two teams (along with Lutheran South) that are new to our football district this year. We came out fast scoring 20 points in the 1st quarter and 12 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-0 lead at half. Our starters were pulled at or before half, but our second team played a great game.
Darien Simms threw the ball for 59 yards. He completed 7 of his 12 passes. Dirk Sanford was 1 for 2 passing for 22 yards in the second half. Andrew Enright caught 3 passes for 15 yards, David Short caught 2 passes for 16 yards, Peyton Louden caught one pass for 20 yards, Brandon Bower (who later in the game broke his humerus bone) caught 1 pass for 22 yards and Cody Peterson (a hybrid lineman / tightend) caught 1 pass for 8 yards and a touchdown. Our leading rushers were Trevion Harris with 54 yards on 1 carry and a touchdown, Kourtlin Flournoy with 38 yards on 1 carry and a touchdown and Zach Mitchell with 36 yards on 1 carry. Darien also scored a rushing TD.
23 players made at least one tackle on defense led by Preston Gray with 5 tackles (one TFL). Luke Kubosh and Zach Mitchell both had a sack. Trevion Harris had a pick that he took back for a touchdown. Darien Simms, David LaBarre, and Braden Eller each recovered a fumble.
