SUMMARY
One of our long time rivals, Ft. Bend Baptist, came up to Northland on Thursday night to play us in our third game of the season. FBBA came in with a 3-0 record while our record stood at 2-0.
We came out of the gates fast and took a 18-0 lead after the first quarter. We scored 2 more times take a 32-0 lead into halftime. Most of our scores in the first half were quick taking less than 4 plays on each drive. Each team scored a touchdown in the third making the score 38-6 heading into the 4th and final quarter. Ft. Bend put a couple of drives together in the 4th period scoring two more times bringing the final score to 38-20. It was a great game knowing that all 34 of our kids had plenty of playing time as we continue to get better each week.
Darien Simms was 1 for 1 passing for 15 yards (catch made by Kourtlin Flournoy) and a touchdown. Darien also led the team in rushing with 6 carries for 187 yards and 4 touchdowns. Trevion Harris carried the ball 3 times for 36 yards while Kourtlin added 28 yards as well.
The Black Swarm defense shut down Ft. Bend in the first half. Our starters have only allowed 2 touchdowns all season. 22 players made at least one tackle this game led by Chris Holley with 8 tackles and Trevion Harris with 5.
The District Championship will be on the line as we play Lutheran North on Monday, September 21, 2009. The game will be played at 5:00 p.m. at Cougar Stadium. The winner of this game will most likely win the district this year. Please come out and show your support.
