Congratulations to the MS football team. They defeated Cypress Christian last night by the score of 26-7 in the first round of the playoffs. This brings their overall record this season to 6-1-1. We will play the winner of Ft. Bend and Galveston next Thursday for the District Championship. Kevin Robertson played a great game at quarterback, taking over for the injured Will Abt. Ryland Gimenez led the team in rushing running the ball 12 times for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns. Matt Houston added to the assault rushing for 66 yards on 4 carries. The Black Swarm defense played extremely well shutting out Cypress until the last minute of the game. As a team, we forced 5 turnovers. Ryan Rihani forced a fumble that was recovered by Trevor Winne. Will Abt, the game's defensive MVP, led the team with 2 interceptions (with a broken arm), 1 resulting in a touchdown. Matt Houston and Matt Mason also recorded interceptions. Sixteen cougars made the tackle chart this game, led by Kevin Robertson, who had 7 tackles. With one more week left in the season, the guys are playing extremely well. We hope to see everyone at the game next Thursday.
