Hard to believe that this JV Football team started out the season 0-5 and is now 3-1 in district! With a shutout win over the Mustangs, the Cougars are now in second place in the district.
    It was a total team effort on Thursday night as both the offense and defense as well as the special teams played nearly flawless football. The offense only had to punt one time and only committed one turnover while piling up 305 yards, while the defense allowed under 150 yards and picked off two passes. Dustin Martin and Austin Huff each had key stops on 4 th downs, John Boyd had 3 sacks, and Josh Dennison got his 2 nd and 3 rd interceptions of the year while only playing spot duty in the secondary. Kyle Serres had 8 catches for 101 yards and kicked a field goal, Hunter Labrada scored his first TD of the year on a pass from Shane Knight, and Jamie Peebles plunged in from a yard out on a QB sneak. Scott Martin played both ways and did a great job on the offensive line with only a week's preparation, and Joe Cate was lights out on kick coverage. Nearly everyone played an important role in this big victory.
   Offensive Player of the Game was Kyle Serres, and Defensive Player of the Game was John Boyd, who is also our Scout Team Player of the Week.
   Next up are the Pioneers from Lutheran South on October 26 th at 6:00pm at Lutheran South. They are about to find out what Cougar JV Football is all about.
