From the coach -- 2006 HIGH school FOOTBALL upcoming season |
Cougar Football is well under way this fall after a summer of hard work. Summer workouts were the most intense they have ever been, with 100% of players participating and working harder than ever. Motivation has been no problem after a loss in the State Championship game to Prestonwood. The Cougars want more and are not willing to settle for less than their best in 2006.
Led by a good group of 17 seniors, this Cougar team is 61 strong. Blessed with some depth, all players are able to just work on one side of the ball. Coach David Nelson is the Offensive Coordinator and Ray Waddy is the Defensive Coordinator. Both excellent motivators, these godly men are always prepared and do an outstanding job with the kids. Practices are focused and the atmostphere is one of unity and commitment. It is a group of guys that really love each other. With a scrimmage under their belts, the Cougs are now a little battle-tested and know the areas where improvement is needed. The focus is now squarely on the first game with Episcopal on 9/1. It will be the first of 3 tough non-district games that also includes St. John's and St. Pius that will help prepare the Cougars for district play.
The theme for this year's Varsity team is "My best, God's glory!", and it is the team's desire that Christ be glorified through their efforts on the field. Don't miss the chance to back the team and see some exciting football. The first Varsity home game is 9/8 vs St. John's. See you in the stands!
