A wet field was about the only thing that could slow down the Cougars as they pounded Westbury 35-0 to run their district unbeaten streak to 17 games. Recording their first shutout of the season, the Black Swarm held Westbury to 125 yards, including only 27 on the ground. Scott Milbourn led the charge with 7 tackles for loss and Ralph Vallier and Eric Fulco added interceptions.
The yards came in bunches for the Cougar offense as Jeff Abt was an efficient 10 for 20 passing with 3 touchdowns to Johnathan Martin. The first one of those was a 75 yarder that Martin caught and tightroped down the sideline, getting the Cougars on the board in the first quarter. The ground attack was the bread and butter, though, as Matt Krob carried 16 times for 150 yards with Stuart Trahan adding hard running, going 17 for 123. Abt was only sacked once as the offensive line continued their dominance. They were especially effective in the second half, opening huge holes for Krob and Trahan (100 yards in the second half) and wearing down the larger Wildcats.
It's Houston Christian's turn to find out what this team is all about when the Northland Christian Cougars visit Mustang Stadium to take on Mike Johnston's team. The 5-2 Mustangs are led by RB Taylor Weaver, who is coming off a 2,000 yard junior campaign and currently has 1,208 yards and 18 TD's. Both teams are 3-0 and a victory here would put the winner in the driver's seat for the district championship.
