 The weather was great, the spirit was high, and the Cougars were on their game Friday night vs the Second Baptist Eagles. Just like two years ago, the opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown (Matt Krob) that gave NCS a 7-0 lead 14 seconds into the game. An early fumble that led to an SBS field goal was about the only thing that went wrong for the home team all night as the Cougars scored early and often jumping out to a 35-3 lead with 7 minutes remaining in the first half. Touchdowns were scored by Mike Ellisor (His Majesty), Colin MacDiarmid, Stuart Trahan and Matt Krob. Josh Dennison also added a two point conversion on a pass from Jeff Abt.
Lindsey Serres and Mike Ellisor were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at halftime.
The 3rd Quarter was much the same as the first two, with Matt Krob adding two more touchdowns with yet another called back.
The Black Swarm held the Eagles to 3 plays and out on 7 possessions and did not allow a TD until the last few minutes with the game well in hand. Eric Fulco recorded an interception and a fumble recovery for the defense as the entire unit played much better than last week. Look for continued strong play on that side of the ball when the Cougs play at Westbury this Friday.
With a 2-0 record in District, NCS is now tied for first with Houston Christian. The two will clash on October 20th.
