Cougars wrap up a 3rd consecutive undefeated district season with 44-0 win over Lutheran North
After a 2 ½ hour weather delay, the Cougars dispatched the Lutheran North Lions with methodical ease 44-0 on the final night of the regular season. Recording their third shutout of the season, the Black Swarm allowed a season low 20 yards, never allowing the Lions inside their 35 yard line. Offensively, the Cougars rolled up more than 400 yards on only 37 plays as QB Jeff Abt again ran an efficient attack. Averaging 12 yards per rush and hitting on 63% of their passes, the home team had their way with the Lions all night, punting only once in the 4 th quarter with the outcome already settled. Stuart Trahan paced the ground attack with 121 yards and 2 TD's.
Northland now will host Texas Military Institute on Friday 11/17 in the opening round of the TAPPS state playoffs. The TMI Panthers are the 4 th seed out of District 3. Game time is 7:30pm. Looming ahead is a possible second round rematch with Houston Christian. To check out the bracket, go to tapps.net.
