Northland Christian came out of the all-district selections by the vote of the district coaches with 16 overall picks and several post season awards. NCS had 10 selections on offense and 6 on defense. District runner-up, Westbury Christian, had 11 overall selections.
Leading the way for Northland was senior kicker and wide receiver Clark Fangmeier. Clark was selected as a unanimous choice for 1 st team wide receiver and kicker. He was also named the district's special team's player of the year for the second year in a row. Fangmeier was a 2nd team selection at defensive back last year to go along with being 1st team all-district and all-state kicker.
Junior running back, Matt Krob, was a unanimous pick as 1st team running back and was named the district's offensive player of the year by rushing for 1,033 yards and scoring 21 total touchdowns in just 8 games. Krob had been selected as the top receiver in the district the past two years.
Senior captain, center Ryan Ellis, led the offensive line by being selected to his second consecutive 1st team all-district team. Senior offensive tackle Jeremy Best was a unanimous selection for 1st team. This was Best's first selection. Junior guard Josh Yerian was also selected to the 1st team.
Jeff Abt became the third consecutive quarterback from Northland to be named to the first team. JP Tillman was selected as 1 st team qb in 2003 and 2004. Abt, a junior, threw for a district best 16 touchdowns this season.
Junior defensive, Scott Milbourn, led the Cougar charge on the defensive side of the ball. Milbourn was named 1st team for the third straight year. He was runner up to George Russell of Westbury Christian as the districts defensive player of the year.
2004 2 nd Team All-State linebacker Garrett Van Dyke earned his second consecutive selection to the districts 1st team. He was joined by fellow linebacker, senior, Isaiah Castillo.
Rounding out the 1st team defense was senior defensive back, Blane Toldan. Toldan registered a district high, 5 interceptions, while scoring on three of them.
Cougars who earned second team selections were junior offensive lineman Aaron Walther, senior running back Kendrick Blue, freshman running back Stuart Trahan, junior defensive end Blaine Tonking, and senior linebacker Austin Carnes.
All-State teams will be selected following the conclusion of the play-offs. |
