After a very sloppy 1st half on both sides of the ball, NCS trailed at halftime for the second time this season 14-6. But after some half time adjustments, the Cougars played possibly their finest half of football this season. The "Black Swarm" emerged as an unstoppable force, limiting the Second Baptist offense to 21 second half yards. The charge was led by junior defensive end Blaine Tonking, who had several key tackles including a sack, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble for a touchdown all on the same play. The offense finally got things going led, once again, by emerging junior tailback Matt Krob. Krob finished with 186 of total offense and scored 3 touchdowns, including a 52 yard screen pass on 2nd and 30. Kendrick Blue came up one yard short of the century mark for rushing in the game. Senior fullback Jack Montgomery (improving every week) played a great game and contributed many key second half runs that produced Northland first downs and his first touchdown of the year. Northland returns to the field this friday night after a 3 week long hiatus. NCS will be visiting the much improved Westbury Christian Wildcats at Fun Field on Bissonet. Game time is a 7:30. Directions to the stadium can be found on the Northland activities calendar, located on the school's website. |
