The Northland offense sputtered out of the blocks but the defense was dominating, allowing only 47 net yards of offense to the defending district champs from Division II. Blaine Tonking led the Cougars with 5 tackles and 2 sacks. The offense finally got things going after turning the ball over on their first three possessions and scored to tie the game at half when Clark Fangmeier hauled in a pass from Jeff Abt. Fangmeier broke the tie when he made a spectacular diving catch in the end zone. Northland pulled away in the 3rd and 4th quarters, wearing down Concordia. NCS has a bye this week and will play at Second Baptist next Friday night at 7:30. |
