GAME SUMMARY
Northland started off slow on offense, but the "Black Swarm" defense was dominant from the very start in this match up between two district unbeatens. After punting down to the CCCS 4 yard line on its 1st posession, Forrest Wilson sacked Cypress qb Travis Thorton in the end zone causing a safety. Northland would drive inside the Cypress 10 yard line before fumbling the ball back to Cypress and not scoring in the 1st quarter. Forrest Wilson, who had a standout game, intercepted a Thortan pass and sprinted down the sideline 48 yards for the game's 1st touchdown. Northland's offense put a score on the board on a JP Tillman 2 yard plunge. making the score 17-0. Northland was able to get the ball back right before half time after Cypress roughed Jeff Abt as he was punting the ball, setting up Clark Fangmeier's amazing school record, 55 yard field goal. Fangmeier would hit two more from 20, and 35 yards to start off the second half while Garrett Van Dyke pounded his was, punishing the Cypress defense for 110 yards on 25 carries and scoring twice. Van Dyke has been filling in for injured starter Isaiah Castillo. The "Black Swarm" finished strong to complete the shut out and claim the school's 1st ever district title in football. Standing at 9-0, Northland can complete an undefeated regular season Friday at Beaumont Cathedral. By winning the district title, NCS will receive a 1st round bye in the playoffs and will host a quarterfinal game at Cougar Stadium either November 19 or 20th at 7:30 pm.
