Capping off a festive and exciting homecoming week, Northland hosted the Westbury Christian Wildcats and treated them to a 62-13 whipping.    

NCS has been jumping on opponents early, and Friday night's Homecoming game was no different.  The Cougs came out of the chute with 49 first-half points and never were threatened by the out-manned Wildcats.  Once again, the offense was set up all night by the sparkling play of the Black Swarm Defense, which leads the entire Houston area (approximately 150 schools) in yards allowed per game at 119.  Matt Krob and Robbie Goady both returned interceptions for TD's and Westbury was constantly forced to punt the ball from the shadow of their own goalpost.  By the end of the first half the Wildcats had negative yardage on offense.  The only first-half score for Westbury came after a 99 yard kickoff return.   
Brendan Green made the catch of the year so far with a diving reception on a fade route that set up an early TD and later added a TD catch from JP Tillman on a bomb to the corner of the end zone.  The ground game was led by Garrett Van Dyke who stepped in at tailback for an injured Isaiah Castillo and bruised his way for a game high 80 yards, including a punishing 38 yard TD.    

Clark Fangmeier returned a kickoff for a TD late in the game to finish off the scoring.  The Cougars lead all private schools in Texas with a 51 point per game scoring average despite several games where the first unit has only played about a half.    

Congratulations to Stat Girl Jill Bell who was voted Homecoming Queen, and to Tackle Allen (Biggun) Williams who was voted Homecoming King.  It was a great week, and the spirit at Northland continues to rise.  Go Cougars!
