The Cougars took on the Bay Area Christian Broncos Friday night and came away with a resounding 70-0 win in the first District IV game of the season. Isaiah Castillo put the Cougs on the board first with a touchdown 48 seconds into the game and the home team never looked back. The Boncos attempted a fake punt on their first possession but it was stuffed by Alan Hayes. JP Tillman immediately hit Mike Ellisor on a post route over the middle for a TD. The Black Swarm held and Isaiah Castillo bulled his way into the end zone for his 2nd TD and it was 21-0.
The Cougars then went on a scoring frenzy, puttiing up 42 points in the second period on touchdown catches by Robbie Goady, Matt Krob, and Garrett Van Dyke. TD runs were added by Isaiah Castillo and Jeff Abt while Forrest Wilson returned an interception 70 yards to make the halftime score 63-0.
Early in the 3rd quarter Jeff Abt and the JV Offense added one more score to finish out the scoring. Clark Fangmeier was good on all 10 extra point attempts.
The Black Swarm held the Broncos to 82 total yards for the game while getting 3 takeaways (the team goal on defense each week). Special Teams were sparkling again this week with good performances from Clark Fangmeier (6 kickoffs into the end zone) and Matt Schulte (4 tackles on kickoff). The Cougars only punted once and that was in the 4th quarter. JP Tillman was 7-9 passing with 4 touchdowns and Isaiah Castillo ran for 100 yards and 3 TD's. Everyone got in on the action and contibuted to the victory.
Next up for the Cougars is the Baytown Christian Saints at their place Friday 7:30. BE THE BEST!
