A note from Coach Reaves:
This meet gave our runners a chance to run with the best. The Aldine ISD Invitational is a public school meet and has been testing runners for twenty-nine years. Located on the campus of North Harris County Community College , this meet generously offers a flat and fast course. We were also blessed with cooler temperatures. Our runners actually complained about being cold. Nice. Like Rice, this course was fan-friendly giving me numerous opportunities to see the runners and do what I do best, yell encouragement in their ears! Although this was not a meet for personal medals, it was an opportunity for our runners to compete with the most talented cross country runners in the city. I was so proud of the courage and tenacity our Cougars showed, as many of our runners achieved personal bests.
I especially want to congratulate Preston Pope on a strong effort in the Junior Varsity Division. Preston finished in the middle of the pack of strong 5A high school teams. Preston just looks like a runner. He has been blessed with a natural running form as he runs tall and glides effortlessly. Preston consistently gives his best at the meet and at practice. I am so thankful Preston decided to run this season! |
